Apple releases iOS 6.1.1 to fix iPhone 4S users' 3G woes

GADGET DESIGNER Apple has released iOS 6.1.1 for users of the iPhone 4S, in a bid to fix the bugs introduced by iOS 6.1.

Following the release of iOS 6.1 at the end of January, users of the iPhone 4S flocked to Apple's support forum to bemoan the update. These angry iDevice owners reported that the update affected their handsets' 3G signals and caused their iPhones' batteries to drain quickly.

Vodafone warned its iPhone 4S customers not to upgrade to iOS 6.1. It said, "We're aware of an issue caused by Apple iPhone 4s handsets that have been upgraded to iOS 6.1 which impacts performance on 3G."

Despite remaining silent about the widely reported problems, Apple has released iOS 6.1.1, which it claims "fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability for iPhone 4S".

The update is available to download either over the air or directly from Apple, and is only available for users of the iPhone 4S. However, it has since emerged that some iPhone 5 owners are experiencing similar issues since downloading iOS 6.1, but Apple is yet to address this problem.
