Björk's Android and Windows Phone app project flops on Kickstarter

FEY ICELANDIC SINGER-SONGWRITER Björk has cancelled her Kickstarter project to bring her Biophilia iOS album app to Android and Windows Phone, because not enough people cared enough to back it.

The project aimed to get the app, which includes her most recent album and a live show, onto the devices of students in the developing world. Just what's needed to help give those fighting poverty and other major issues a lift.

In order to reach its target the project required £375,000. Instead, it managed to attract just £15,370 in its first 10 days before being scrapped.

"Funding for this project was cancelled by the project creator one day ago," the project's Kickstarter web page now says.

Since starting the project Björk added many rewards such as signed album artwork prints to lure fans into funding the project.

The latest update featured an evidently desperate plea for support by the Icelandic artist. She wrote, "This is an odd one for me to ask of you but it proved unbelievably complicated to reprogram Biophilia for Android and more, it will take eight programmers five months! But I feel I cannot leave this project before this has been done."

Perhaps Björk's Android and Windows Phone fans didn't think the prospective app offered them enough to bother backing it. Either that, or there were not enough of them around to bother.

But we clearly have an Apple fanboi on our hands. Björk was more than willing to stump up to provide a musical app experience for her fans that have iOS devices, but expected Android and Windows Phone fans to fork out for it themselves. µ
