A JAILBREAK for Apple's iOS 6 is available for a raft of Apple hardware including the iPhone and iPad.
The jailbreak is called Evasi0n and comes from a team called Evad3rs. The group's Twitter account has been forecasting the release as incoming since late last month. It was released late Monday.
The developers claim that the Evasi0n jailbreak is compatible with all iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and iPad Mini models running iOS 6 and above.
The jailbreak is available for Windows, Mac and Linux downloaders and anyone who wants to use it on their smartphone should follow a couple of rules.
For example, it is wise to turn off your locking password for your iDevice and take a break from any Apple related software like iTunes during the install. Of course, it is always wise to back up your data before carrying out any such tasks.
The task here is relatively simple, and Evad3rs reckons that it should only take as little as five minutes of your time. It is effectively a plug and jailbreak system. Download the app to your computer, run it, attach your iThing and let the jailbreak do its stuff. The Evasi0n jailbreak is compatible with Cydia.
Apple does not recommend that its iOS users jailbreak their devices. It warns users that any unauthorised activity affecting the operating system can "cause instability, security vulnerabilities, shortened battery life, and other issues". µ
