THE THUMB-SIZED GAMES CONSOLE Gamestick has ended its Kickstarter run covered in glory and with almost six thousand people to thank.
The console initially had the goal of raising $100,000. It beat that target easily and broke $600,000 over its weeks on the crowdfunding website.
Over time it has added a number of stretch goals - a dock, a redesigned controller and a colour range.
The excitement as it closed in on the end of its Kickstarter time was palpable. At its close Gamestick had raised $647,658 from 5,691 backers.

Funders get hold of the Gamestick and for under $80 you could have bagged yourself both a mention in the system's credits and your own console.
This package that actually costs $79 was the most popular among investors, selling around 2,000 times. Other options threw in a case, and extra controller, the dock, and other enticements. A handful of people pledged a grand apiece and will get a gold Gamestick for their trouble.
Gamestick also announced that anyone that has taken up a package without the dock option can add $20 to their investment to secure the recently announced add-on.
"Wow! What a result! Incredible! Blown Away!" is the very latest update to the webpage and was posted just minutes after the Kickstarter run closed. The Gamestick's estimated delivery date is this coming April. µ
