Sony Xperia Z offers extreme water protection

THE WATERPROOF Sony Xperia Z is available to preorder on Three from today, the UK mobile network announced this morning.

Three got in touch to tell us that it is now taking preorders for Sony's Android 4.1 Jelly Bean flagship smartphone in both black and white models, with prices starting from £69 on a 24 month £34 tariff. This tariff comes with 500 minutes, 5,000 texts and unlimited monthly data.

The Sony Xperia Z is also available to buy on Three's One Plan for £36 a month, which will get you 2,000 minutes, 5,000 Three to Three minutes, 5,000 texts and unlimited data.

For those who don't fancy signing up to a two year contract, the handset is also available to buy on Three pay as you go for £499, when bought along with a £15 top-up. This will get you 300 minutes, 3,000 texts and unlimited data for a month.

The first 1,000 buyers to preorder an Xperia Z from a Three store will get a free pair of Sony MDR-1R Prestige headphones worth £299.

The mobile network said it will start shipping orders on 28 February, just one day earlier than Amazon's promised release date.

Sylvia Chind, head of devices at Three said, "We're extremely pleased to offer the Xperia Z for pre-order from the 1st February and coupled with our highly competitive price plans and no surprise out of bundle data charges, this premium smartphone brings you the ultimate internet experience all on our Ultrafast network."
