CHINESE ELECTRONICS MAKER ZTE silently announced its 8in V81 tablet today.
Popping up on ZTE's website ahead of MWC, the V81 boasts an 8in 1,024X768 touchscreen display. It is powered by a dual-core 1.4GHz CPU and has 1GB RAM and 4GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card.

Google's Android Jelly Bean 4.1 mobile operating system (OS) will be running on the device, which also touts a 2MP camera on the back and an 0.3MP camera on the front.
The 8in tablet is also listed with 802.11b/g/n built-in WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, USB and HDMI connectivity and a 3.5mm earphone port.
As you'd expect from such an early and unexpected release, there's no word yet on pricing and availability, but with the V81's specifications not being the most exciting or groundbreaking we've seen, we expect the device to launch in the entry level pricing band.
We can expect ZTE to reveal more details when the device goes on show at the firm's press event at Mobile World Conference (MWC), where it also plans to launch its first smartphone running the Firefox mobile OS. µ
