THE ANDROID BASED Gamestick games console has been shown off in all its up to date design finery.
We are expecting the Gamestick in the Spring, and it's so far, so good. Playjam, the company behind it, was looking for £100,000 in funding. By now they have five times that much, and the console still has until 1 February to run on Kickstarter.
"It's hard to believe that we launched Gamestick just a few short weeks ago. The Kickstarter campaign has been a roller coaster of a ride and one which has given us more feedback than we could ever have possibly imagined." said PlayJam CMO Anthony Johnson.
"We have been able to take that input and literally better shape our product to give our backers a truly bespoke creation - one which has been designed by the Kickstarter community that backed it."
Guess what, the controller is more ergonomic and should sit nicer in the hand, while the joystick part of the Gamestick now makes room for a microSD card slot. Gamestick said that this was included "in response to overwhelming demand".
Last week as the pocket console hit other targets, a dock was announced. While this adds to the overall Gamestick concept, it also adds room for a lot more peripherals. Not to mention, karaoke games.
"The Gamestick Dock is a prime example of how we have moved rapidly to innovate while still in the pre-production phase," added Johnson.
"It has made for a 'hairy' 30 days but we think the results are worth it and we are delighted that we have been able to tailor the product as much as we have in such a short timeframe." µ
