BOOKSELLER Amazon has added a feature for developers that sell Mac, PC and web based games online.

The firm has made it possible for people to use their existing Amazon accounts as a payment system, meaning that they can make in-app purchases easily and quickly.

"We're passionate about making game developers successful, and we'll continue to build services that make monetization easier and remove undifferentiated heavy lifting from developers," said Amazon Games director Mike Frazzini.

"Game developers build games that are used across multiple platforms and mediums. In-app purchasing for Mac, PC and web based games is our latest service that helps game developers grow their business and increase their customer base."

Amazon sells games through its Digital Games store. According to its numbers it has as many as 3,000 playable games. The in-app purchasing feature is available now, and Amazon said that it is protected with its own anti-fraud measures.

Helping developers make money and customers discover things to buy will be highlighted items for sale, appearances on best-seller lists, recommendations and merchandising campaigns.

"For years, Amazon has focused on making the online shopping experience as frictionless as possible," added Frazzini. "We are excited to share this expertise and technology so that game developers can offer customers this same great experience." µ
