NETWORK EQUIPMENT MAKER Devolo has launched a 500Mbit/s Powerline adaptor that incorporates a dual-band WiFi access point and Ethernet connectivity.
Devolo has been pitching its Powerline adaptors at the higher end of a market that is dominated by no-name brands. Now the company has launched its DLAN 500 AV Wireless+ Powerline adaptor that combines a WiFi access point in addition to 500Mbit/s Ethernet connectivity over power cables.
According to Devolo, the DLAN 500 AV Wireless+ adaptor can sustain bandwidths of 500Mbit/sec on infrastructure power cabling runs of up to 300 metres. The firm has included dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wifi connectivity and a switch with three Ethernet ports.
Heiko Harbers, CEO of devolo said, "Mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets have become part of our everyday life. Using dLAN Powerline, you create a central network infrastructure that can integrate wireless products wherever you need them. This makes dLAN one of a kind, because we can ensure the highest transmission quality in every room of the home - whether cabled or wireless."
The DLAN 500 AV Wireless+ adaptor can be configured through its Android and IOS apps and Devolo said it has the ability to set internet usage quotas on the router. The adaptor is available now, priced at £90. µ
