LAS VEGAS: HARDWARE MAKER Asus silently announced the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Ares II graphics card at CES in Las Vegas this week, which it claims is the fastest card available for gaming today
We met with Asus today to discuss its low-key CES announcements, and it told us that the ROG Ares II features two Radeon HD 7970 GPUs, 6GB of GDDR5 memory and a special sealed liquid-cooling system that it boasts drastically improves heat dissipation.
The Asus Rog Ares II has an accessible two-slot design and features DIGI+ VRM and 20-phase Super Alloy Power.
Asus claimed that this is the fastest graphics card available in the world today, outperforming the GTX 698 by an impressive 13 percent.
"Dual HD 7970 GHz Edition GPUs and 6GB [of] GDDR5 ensure superior gaming performance, aided by a hybrid thermal design combining liquid and air cooling for dedicated heat removal from the GPUs and key components," Asus said. It also told The INQUIRER that this announcement emphasises its goal to make gaming better for everybody.
Following on from the original ROG Ares graphics card, which launched back in 2010 for PC gaming enthusiasts, the ROG Ares II will be available only to the biggest gaming fans, as only 1,000 will be made. The ROG Ares II will arrive in a special ROG-themed case with each card featuring a laser-etched serial number on the aluminum backplate.
Asus was unable to quote pricing and availability yet. µ
