LAS VEGAS: COMPUTER MAKER Lenovo announced the 27in Ideacentre Horizon today, the firm's debut table PC device.

Unwrapped at CES in Las Vegas, the Horizon can lie flat on any surface, allowing multiple people to operate its 10 finger multi-touch screen at once. This screen is powered by an Intel Core i7 processor, and Lenovo boasts that the Windows 8 device also comes optimised for multiplayer gaming and arrives preloaded with custom game titles from EA and Ubisoft.

It comes with its own dedicated app store too, the Lenovo App Shop, which is presently home to over 5,000 entertainment apps.

"We've seen technology shifts across the four screens, from the desktop to the laptop, tablet and smartphone, and yet, while people have more computing power than ever before, there is still room for technologies like Horizon that bring people together. Horizon makes personal computing interpersonal computing with shared, collaborative experiences among several people," said Lenovo Product Group president Peter Hortensius.

"Now many people can enjoy different photos, music and video on the same screen, and they can play games with our special accessories that blend physical and digital interaction. Horizon reflects our commitment to delivering the innovative products that define the PC Plus era."

Lenovo also showed off a prototype 37in device at CES today, codenamed Gamma. Also designed for gaming, the gigantic tablet comes with a bunch of specially-designed accessories, including e-dice and joysticks.

The Ideacentre Horizon will cost $1,699 when it goes on sale, although there's no word on a UK release yet.
