CRIMSON COLOURED NETWORK Vodafone UK launched a scheme called "Nearly New" today that offers customers pre-owned, discounted smartphones.
According to the UK mobile operator the promotional programme makes it easier for those on a budget to buy a smartphone, in turn helping to increase the takeup of mobile internet usage.
For example, buying a pre-owned Iphone 4 on Vodafone will cost customers just £250, whereas getting the handset new from the network costs around £405. That's not the only phone to receive a hefty discount, as Vodafone is also offering the Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X on discounted contracts to monthly customers. We've asked the network for more details on the pricing of those two handsets.
Buying a pre-owned smartphone doesn't mean that you're going to get a phone that barely works, as the operator tells us that all handsets offered through its Nearly New programme have been returned "in very good condition" and have gone through "a number of checks".
"Nearly New is designed to make it even more affordable for people, especially those who prefer pay as you go services, to get their hands on a smartphone and start using the mobile internet," a Vodafone spokesperson told The INQUIRER.
"It is part of our ambition to get the internet into the hands of our customers, " they added. µ
