As businesses assessed the damage and began digging out, the picture wasn't as gloomy as they might have feared - WSJ, on the tsunami that killed thousands
ANTI-VIRUS PIONEER John McAfee has left Guatemala and has fetched up in Miami.
"I am on the plane", said the last message McAfee wrote on his blog. He added that he had been "forcibly" separated from his girlfriend and said he would update with more information after he landed.
A follow-up post on the blog asked that the media give McAfee some space this evening.
McAfee had hoped to be sent to the US, and regularly stated his belief that the Belize authorities might not be fair. He has professed his innocence since news of a neighbour's death broke.
"I thought maybe they were coming for me. They mistook him for me. They got the wrong house. He's dead. They killed him. It spooked me out," he said.
It was revealed only yesterday that McAfee would be heading out of Guatemala after a judge ruled that his arrest and detention were illegal.
As good as its word, the Guatemalan government released him from jail yesterday and immediately deported him by putting him on a plane to Miami.
According to a report at SFGate, McAfee is holed up in a South Beach hotel in Miami. µ
