MICROSOFT CONSOLE USERS of the Xbox 360 have been treated to a dash update today that grants them access to more apps.

The rollout and availability of apps depends on what country you are in. What you get varies, so in the UK we get things like Napster, while in the Netherlands they will get access to Eredivisie, the local version of the English Premiership.

There are 43 apps about to be launched, said Microsoft's Major Nelson in a blog post, and they will come out between now and next Spring.

Some apps will be live everywhere, like Karaoke and Skydrive. Microsoft said, "Karaoke provides access to more than 8,000 songs from the latest hits to the oldies but goodies." Skydrive is Microsoft's digital locker system.

People in the US have base interests, according to the Major Nelson blog post, and they get Maxim. "Maxim delivers what guys want - beautiful women, cool gear and funny videos... it's the #1 destination for couch-bound men looking for a good time," is all you need to know about that. They get Maxim and MTV as exclusives.

Karaoke, Napster, Skydrive and Maxim all start rolling out from today. µ
