GAMING HOUSE Nintendo is releasing a slimmed down version of its Wii console in Canada from the start of next month.
The firm has limited the device to the Canadian market for the holiday season, and will not say when it will hit other locations. It is a penny shy of costing $100 Canadian, and it will start shipping on 7 December.
"Wii Mini is available exclusively in Canada during the holiday season. No information is available about its potential availability in other territories in the future," it said.
This is the third time that Nintendo has released the Wii. It is likely that the cheaper model, which would be about £60 in the UK, will help it shift more units - if, that is, there are still some people left that don't have, or had, a Wii already.
This one, if you do get one, is red, and for your money you also get a Wii Remote and Nunchuk.
"There are games in the Wii library for every type of player," said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada's VP and general manager.
"Wii Mini is a great gift for the holidays that brings everyone in the family together to play. Wii Mini has a mini price, but it's all about big fun."
Cut price games follow the hardware and Nintendo has plucked some titles out of its range and lowered their prices. These are in Canadian dollars again, and include Mario Kart, $39.99, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, $29.99. µ
