EX GENERAL David Petraeus might have resigned from his post as US CIA director, but his career has advanced in the just released Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
Petraeus is at the centre of a storm of bedroom controversy that involves ladies and emails. He has resigned from his position as head of the CIA, but is still on active duty in the virtual world.
Players of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 are finding him still hard at work as the US Secretary of Defense in the year 2025.
A walkthrough of the game posted online shows just how like him the likeness of him in the game looks. The in game character shares his name but not his voice, since that is done by an actor.
Petraeus resigned as CIA director after admitting he'd had an extramarital affair. Maybe that sort of thing is okay in the future. We've asked the games publisher Activision to comment. So far it has not.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is set in a sort of dystopian future where the US is engaged in a cold war with Russia. In one of his scenes Petraeus is found on board the "USS Barack Obama".
We can assume that the game, its characters and the plot are the result of many months of hard work and careful scripting. The game's timing then is probably best characterised as unfortunate. µ
