THE INQUIRER managed to get a demo of Microsoft's first homegrown tablet, the Microsoft Surface with Windows RT.
Shown off at Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 launch event in London last night, the Surface RT looks to tackle the Apple Ipad and the newly announced Google Nexus 10 with its 10.6in 1366 x 768 touchscreen, quad-core processor and quirky Windows RT operating system.
The tablet, which apparantly failed to impress UK consumers on launch day, also features 2GB of RAM, dual cameras, HD 720p video support, either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage and the option of adding on Microsoft's colourful Touch keyboard.
