UK MOBILE RETAILER Carphone Warehouse has revealed that it will sell the Amazon Kindle Fire HD.

The online phone shop has added the Amazon Kindle Fire HD to its coming soon webpage along with the original Kindle Fire tablet that is finally making its way to UK shores.

There's no word on the tablets' prices or release dates, although Amazon is promising that the Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD will start shipping in the UK on Thursday, 25 October, two days after the launch of the so-called Ipad Mini.

Amazon has priced the original Kindle Fire at £129, while the Kindle Fire HD will cost £159 or £199, depending on whether you opt for the 16GB or 32GB model. If buying from Amazon, customers can opt to pay a tenner extra for the Kindle Fire HD in order to get rid of annoying home screen ads.

In terms of specifications, the newer Amazon Kindle Fire HD is the one to get excited about. The budget tablet features a 7in 1280x800 HD resolution display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a 1.3MP front-facing camera and a heavily skinned version of Android.

Amazon also announced recently that it will be bringing its latest ereader the Kindle Paperwhite to the UK. Available in both WiFi-only and 3G models, the Kindle Paperwhite is priced at £109 and £169, respectively, and will also start shipping on 25 October. µ
