BEARDED ORACLE BOSS Larry Ellison apparently is considering an investment in sports and entertainment.

Ellison is close to making an investment in a multi billion dollar sports and entertainment empire, according to a Reuters report that quotes sources close to the matter.

Ellison, they say, is considering a bid for the Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), a rather large company with a rather extensive reach.

Bids for the firm are thought to be in the $10bn range, which would put Ellison in the running. However, neither he nor Oracle have commented on the report.

According to Reuters' sources Ellison might be interested in the firm because it would allow him to move a National Football League team to Los Angeles.

Ellison has flirted with entertainment before and he and his company make a rather obvious appearance in the superhero movie Iron Man 2. His Oracle Openworld events have also been known to host some big name musical groups.

This year it hosted rockers Pearl Jam and Kings of Leon. Other bands appearing at gigs during Openworld have included Black Eyed Peas, Billy Joel, Lenny Kravitz, Stevie Nicks, Sting and Tom Petty.

Ellison is the third wealthiest man in America. µ
