HTC announces One X+ smartphone with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

TAIWANESE PHONE MAKER HTC announced the HTC One X+ smartphone today, which will arrive running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The handset is essentially an upgraded version of the HTC One X smartphone with a faster 1.7GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, 64GB of internal storage, a 2,100mAh battery and the latest version of Google's mobile operating system, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

According to HTC, the One X+ is 67 percent faster than its predecessor and boasts an additional six hours of talk time.

"We are taking the HTC One X to a new level with the introduction of the new HTC One X+," said HTC CEO Peter Chou. "Our customers will have super-fast browsing, an even better camera and more immersive entertainment with Beats Audio."

The HTC One X+ also features a 4.7in S-LCD2 screen, HTC Sense UI 4+, an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 1.6MP front-facing camera and support for LTE connectivity. It's unclear whether the handset will support EE's 4G network like its HTC One XL sibling.

Although not mentioned by HTC, we're assuming this is the mysterious HTC smartphone that will be sold through O2 without a charger in the box. The mobile operator was unavailable for comment at the time of publication.

The HTC One X+ will be available in Europe later on this month, although HTC has not announced release date(s) or pricing yet. µ
