THE OPEN SOURCE Open WebOS project has released its first full production release of Open WebOS 1.0.
After HP unceremoniously dumped WebOS during Leo Apotheker's brief reign, Meg Whitman's arrival saw the operating system spun off into an open source project that has finally born fruit. The Open WebOS project announced it has released Open WebOS 1.0 that provides the full WebOS experience on touchscreen devices.
The project said it has an Open Embedded build that allows anyone to run Open WebOS within an Open Embedded emulator. The outfit is still supporting the desktop build environment.
The Open Web OS project said that in the future it will be looking to implement the Qt 5 framework, incorporate open source media and audio components and work on Connman network management.
The Open WebOS project has put the source code for Open WebOS 1.0 on Github. µ
