SUPERMARKET GIANT Tesco has started taking preorders for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 ahead of the handset's release on Monday.

Potential buyers will be pleased to hear that it's cheaper at Tesco than Phones 4U's pricing, which started at a hefty £41 a month. Over at the Tesco Phone Shop, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 can be picked up for free on a much more reasonable 24 month £36 contract, which comes with unlimited texts, unlimited data and 1GB data.

For those looking to pick up the device SIM free when it goes on sale this Sunday, the handset is expected to fetch around £545.

Announced at IFA back in August, the Galaxy Note 2 has a mammoth 5.5in HD screen and a 1.6GHz quad-core processor. Hoping to continue the success of its slightly smaller first generation sibling, it also features Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, an 8MP rear-facing camera with HD 1080p video, a 1.9MP front-facing camera, a 3,100mAh battery and 4G LTE connectivity.

The Galaxy Note 2 will be available at Samsung's flagship London store from 12 noon on Sunday before it goes on sale at other UK retailers and mobile networks at 9am Monday. µ
