FINNISH PHONE FLOGGER Nokia has revealed European pricing and the release date for its Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 handsets.
The company announced today that the two Windows Phone 8 handsets will be available in Germany from November, costing €499 and €629, respectively.
Although the details are about the smartphones' launch in Germany, this certainly suggests that we'll be seeing the two phones in November too, priced at around £400 and £500, respectively. It also confirms speculation that Microsoft will release Windows Phone 8 at the beginning of November, and lays to rest the rumours that the operating system has been delayed.
However, If this UK pricing is accurate it means Nokia's flagship Lumia 920 handset could be overshadowed by the HTC Windows Phone 8X handset, which one retailer has priced at £398.98. According to Amazon, HTC's flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone will start shipping in the UK at about the same time, with its release date set for 8 November.
Nokia also announced today that the O2 and Vodafone mobile networks in Germany will be offering the two handsets, but it's unclear whether the operators' UK arms will also be selling the phones. We do know, however, that EE will be offering the Nokia Lumia 920 on its 4G LTE network in the UK. µ
