THE INTEL POWERED Motorola Razr I will start shipping in the UK on 5 October, according to a listing at Amazon.

The online retail giant has started taking preorders for the Razr I smartphone, and has priced it at £349.99 SIM free - just a fiver more expensive than Expansys. However, unlike its rival retailer, Amazon has revealed that the handset will start shipping on 5 October, eight days from today.

Announced at a swanky event in London last week, Motorola's Razr I is the first smartphone to feature a 2GHz Intel Atom processor. While this is merely a single-core chip, Motorola boasts that it's faster than most of its dual-core rivals, a claim that has proven true during our hands-on time with the handset.

As well as a nippy processor, Motorola Razr I features a 4.3in edge-to-edge Super AMOLED screen, a Kevlar coated casing, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), an 8MP camera with HD 1080p video and integrated NFC technology.

Earlier today Motorola revealed that Google's Chrome web browser now plays nicely with the Razr I too.

Once it's released next week, the Motorola Razr I will also be available in the UK through Orange, T-Mobile, Tesco Mobile, Virgin Media and Phones 4U. µ
