GADGET DESIGNER Apple is obviously struggling to keep up demand for the Iphone 5, as shipping for its latest smartphone has slipped to three to four weeks.

At Apple's UK online store, those who preorder the 16GB model Iphone 5 will now have to wait three to four weeks until they receive their handset. Shipping for the 32GB and 64GB models has slipped to two to three weeks.

Still, those really desperate to get their hands on the latest bit of Apple kit should be able to pick one up from Apple's retail stores on Friday when the device goes on sale in the UK.

This prolonged delay comes after Apple announced that it racked-up two million Iphone 5 preorders in just 24 hours, doubling the demand seen by last year's Iphone 4S.

This demand isn't all that surprising given the handset's upgraded specifications, which include a larger 4in Retina display, Apple's A6 processor, IOS 6, an upgraded 8MP rear-facing camera, and a slim 7.6mm chassis, earning the Iphone 5 the title of the world's thinnest smartphone.
