Windows Phone 8 isn’t ready yet

SOFTWARE HOUSE Microsoft hasn't finished building its Windows Phone 8 mobile operating system yet despite expectations for a launch next month, according to reports.

The Verge has learnt from numerous unnamed sources that Microsoft is struggling to get its upcoming mobile operating system ready on time. The report claims that the company had originally planned for a launch early next month before pushing this back to 29 October, and this date could be put off even longer.

It's still unclear what has caused the delays, although the report cites bugs during testing for causing the hiccup that will see Windows Phone 8 - and devices running it - suffer delays.

HTC reportedly is having the worst time of all, which has caused it to delay handset announcements. However, if the firm's mysterious invitation is anything to go by, its Windows Phone 8 device launch event is expected to take place in the US next week.

The Verge adds that Microsoft was supposed to sign off a final build of Windows Phone 8 this week, but instead it has told Nokia, Samsung and HTC not to show off the software just yet.

The INQUIRER has experienced this first hand too, as we were warned not to fiddle with the software on Nokia's flagship Lumia 920 because it was an early build.
