Apple store burglar caught after leaving licence plate in store

INEPT THIEVES ram-raided an Apple Store in Temecula, California today, but one was collared after the number plate of his BMW fell off and was left in the store.

The Apple Store in the quiet town of Temecula, California is like every other shiny monument to products bearing the firm's fruit logos, but yesterday at 5am local time a gang of miscreants decided they didn't want to pay the Apple tax and drove into the store. Local police caught one of the burglars after the number plate of the BMW used in the raid fell off at the scene of the crime.

Temecula police sergeant Dean Spivacke told local rag The Californian that the damage to the Apple Store was caused by "someone who bashed their way into the store with a vehicle" and then got stuck inside. The thief then used the BMW to ram his way out, though it wasn't clear initially what shiny gadgets he managed to make off with.

The INQUIRER talked to one of the Apple Store employees on the scene who said the store will be closed for a couple of days and that those who have appointments will be directed to other Apple Stores in Riverside county. During the day, local glazers were working frantically to replace the glass storefront while a black curtain was erected to stop people from gazing into the damaged store.

Given that the thieves were incompetent enough to first get stuck in a glass fronted store they had used a car to drive into and then leave the number plate at the scene of the crime, one has to surmise that they possess the appropriate intellectual properties to prefer using Apple's products. µ
