THE FIRST Samsung Windows Phone 8 device, the Samsung Ativ S, will soon be released in the UK, if a Phones 4U listing is anything to go by.
The UK retailer has added the Samsung Ativ S to its coming soon page, although it's remaining mum on pricing or release date. However, with Windows Phone 8 set to debut at some point in October we're putting our money on a release next month.
Outed at IFA in Berlin last week, the oddly-named Samsung Ativ S is aimed at both professionals and normal folk, according to Samsung, boasting a large 4.8in Super AMOLED HD screen and a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. Of course, these impressive hardware specifications come with Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 operating system, which offers a customisable homescreen, Xbox Live gaming and fancy social networking integration.
Other specifications include an 8MP rear-facing camera with HD 1080p video, a 1.9MP front-facing camera, 16GB of internal storage, a 2,300mAh battery and a microSD slot, making the Samsung Ativ S the first Windows Phone device to boast expandable storage.
We've been in touch with Phones 4U to request further details. µ
