VOICE OVER IP (VoIP) service Skype has updated its IOS app with the ability to send photos using an Iphone or Ipad.
"Today, with updates to both apps, we are introducing a frequently requested feature: Photo Sharing for iOS," Skype said in a blog post.
"This new feature will let you send photos you've shot on your Ipad or Iphone directly to friends or family members via Skype."
We've tested it out on both our Ipad and Iphone, and the feature is incredibly easy to use. Simply tap the 'add' symbol in the right hand corner of a chat screen, select an image from your camera or photo stream and it will send instantly to your contact once they've accepted.
What's more, there's no file size limit on images either, which means it can save forking out on MMS charges, and we found that it was much quicker at sending images than Apple's Imessage app.
That's not all that's new in Skype version 4.1, as the VoIP and chat giant has added a number of performance enhancements to its IOS app. According to the Microsoft owned company, Skype for IOS is now much less battery hungry when running in the background and the app now loads much faster than before.
Skype for Iphone and Ipad 4.1 is available to download for free from the Itunes App Store. µ
