TAIWANESE PHONE MAKER HTC has released an Android update for its flagship HTC One X smartphone.
HTC said in a statement, "As part of our on-going commitment to ensure customers are receiving software updates that improve their user experience, we are pleased to announce our next upgrade for the HTC One X will be released on August 10th.
Unfortunately, it's not the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update users are hoping to see. Instead, it's a bump to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, an update that brings a handful of tweaks to the One X.
In terms of new features, the Android 4.0.4 update brings an improved Sense interface to the large screen phone, including the ability to map menu functions to the Recent Apps key, improved tabbed browsing and enhanced camera capabilities such as white balance and continuous autofocus.
Rolling out from today, it also brings memory enhancements, improved platform stability, Facebook Single Sign-On and an update to the handset's audio software.
HTC has added a number of features specifically for developers too, including expanded SDK support for HTC Media Link and a improved framework for video calling apps.
It's unclear whether Android 4.0.4 is rolling out to all HTC One X handsets, but we've asked HTC for further information. µ
