Described as a 'rare collectors vintage box'

EBay must pay 38.6m euros to LVMH over the sale of fake branded replicas

A PLUCKY EBAY USER is selling a brand new, first generation Iphone on Ebay with an asking price of $10,000.

The user, who goes by the handle of samsonbible, is selling the first model Iphone complete with an unopened box in cellophane, which he has described as a "rare collectors vintage box". Feeling confident, the seller isn't offering shoppers the chance to bid on the item, and has instead slapped it with an optimistic $10,000 Buy It Now price tag.

However, given samsonbible's enthusiastic, if not to say shouty description of the device, it would be hard not to resist handing over the cash.

He says "STUNNING RARE COLLECTORS CHOICE APPLE iPHONE 1ST GENERATION 8GB AND FACTORY SEALED..!!! YOU ARE SEEING A PIECE OF HISTORY..!!!! THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE COLLECTORS SHOW PIECE..!!!! THIS WOULD BE A CROWN JEWEL FOR ANY COLLECTION..!!!! AMAZING FACTORY SEALED BOX..!!! UNOPENED AND THE COLLECTORS DREAM APPLE iPHONE..!!!!!!"

The first generation Iphone was revealed by Steve Jobs on 9 January 2007 before going on sale six months later. While that was only five years ago, it seems that this Ebay user thinks the device is already a rare and extremely valuable antique.

Whether the seller is as mad as a box of frogs remains to be seen, with the item listing set to last for another 16 days. µ
