UK RETAILER Phones 4U has announced that it will be bringing Samsung's latest Windows Phone, the Omnia W, to the UK on 1 August.

Samsung Omnia MAnnounced back in May, the Samsung Omnia M is a midrange Windows Phone aiming to woo customers from the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710.

The Omnia M features Microsoft's Windows Phone 7.5 Mango operating system, and although it won't be upgraded to Windows Phone 8, it's likely to get Windows Phone 7.8 instead. It also has a 4in Super AMOLED touchscreen, a 1GHz processor, a 5MP rear-facing camera, a VGA webcam, 4GB of built-in storage and a 1500mAh battery.

Phones 4U has revealed that it will be the first retailer to bring the handset to the UK, with a launch date set for Wednesday 1 August. It's available to pre-order now on Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone with prices starting from £26 a month, including 100 minutes, 500 texts and 250MB of data.

Phones 4U said, "We are delighted to exclusively offer the Samsung Omnia M, Samsung's latest handset running Windows 7.5, two months before it will be available via any other UK retailer.

"Our track record of launching Samsung devices and Windows Phones is incredibly strong and our dedicated Samsung zones in our Oxford Street and Westfield London stores provide the ultimate destination for anyone wanting to buy this Samsung device with Windows Phone." µ
