UK RETAILER Carphone Warehouse has revealed that it will have stock of the Google Nexus 7 tablet later this week on Friday, 27 July.
This is good news for those who don't fancy waiting for Google to receive stock of the budget tablet, as Carphone Warehouse will be selling the 16GB model for £199.99 upfront. Carphone Warehouse will also sell the tablet on a tethered contract, costing £20.50 per month.
Graham Stapleton, chief commercial officer at Carphone Warehouse said, "It's interesting to see that despite larger 10 inch tablets dominating the market, Google is forging ahead with its own 7 inch model.
"A smaller tablet has yet to prove itself in a category dominated by bigger screens, but if anyone can make it happen, Google can. I'm sure the other leading tablet manufacturers will be watching closely and be ready to follow suit in the coming months."
The Google Nexus 7 has already sold out at some sources in the UK, with the Google Play store now showing users a pre-order status while the internet giant awaits more stock. That's not all that surprising given the low priced tablet's specifications, which include a 7in touchscreen, a quad-core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a front-facing camera and integrated NFC connectivity. µ
