UK MOBILE RETAILER Carphone Warehouse has revealed the UK release date for the Google Nexus 7.
The third-party phone shop has begun taking pre-orders for the Asus-built tablet, with units expected to start shipping on 27 July. Carphone Warehouse is asking £199 for the 16GB model, the same price you'll find in the Google Play store.
Announced at the Google I/O Conference in San Francisco last month, the Nexus 7 by Asus will be the first device to run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and aims to take on the Apple Ipad with its low price.
It might be inexpensive, but the Google Nexus 7 still arrives featuring a 7in HD resolution touchscreen, an Nvidia 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor, a 1.2MP front-facing camera, integrated NFC, WiFi connectivity and Google's Chrome web browser pre-installed.
However, as The INQUIRER revealed last week, the device won't arrive in the UK with all of the features of its US counterpart, including access to Google Play Magazines and TV shows.
Still, at £199 you'll still get a fair bit for your money. µ
