MAKER OF SHINY TOYS Apple could soon be drifting into the fragrance market, as a Macbook Pro perfume has been developed.
Created by Australian artists Gavin Bell, Jarrah de Kuijer and Simon McGlinn in collaboration with fragrance company Air Aroma, the perfume forgoes the usual aromas of lavender and jasmine in favour of a plastic, glue and cardboard musk.
"The aroma requested for the project was the scent of an Apple product being opened for the first time," says Air Aroma on its web site.
"The scent encompasses the smell of the plastic wrap covering the box, printed ink on the cardboard, the smell of paper and plastic components within the box and of course the aluminum laptop which has come straight from the factory where it was assembled in China."
Unfortunately Apple fans won't be able to buy the perfume, the blog post continues, as there are no plans to put the product up for sale. However, the fragrance will be on display at an exhibition in Melbourne from 20 April through 12 May for anyone who wants to catch a whiff of an Apple Macbook Pro unboxing. µ
