IT SOUNDS LIKE THE START OF A JOKE, 'a woman walks into the Apple Store', but for one octogenarian, that was the start of a nightmare.
We learn that Evelyn Paswall, 83, is accusing the store of being a threat to the elderly, and is asking for $1,000,000 in damages because she did not see a window as she approached it, carried on walking and broke her nose.
According to CBS News Paswall's lawyer wants to make an example of a firm that goes for style over safety.
"Apple wants to be cool and modern and have the type of architecture that would appeal to the tech crowd," said her attorney, Derek Smith "But on the other hand, they have to appreciate the danger that this high-tech modern architecture poses to some people."
Smith specialises in discrimination cases according to his biography and we have asked him for more information on his client's case, and her likely chances. We have also asked Apple to comment on the case, and the risk that its windows present.
CBS reports that stickers have been added to the windows of the Long Island store in question. µ
