SOFTWARE HOUSE Microsoft will release more details about the release of the blocktastic Minecraft game on the Xbox 360 tomorrow.
The game is already very popular on PCs and mobile phones and has been tipped to turn up on the Xbox 360 for some time. Leaks about its potential features, including four-way split screen gaming, have been dripping out for a while.
Now the title almost has a release date, and we will know what that is in just over a day. There is a countdown to launch on the Microsoft Studios web site that is limited to days, and as of now it is showing a large black number two.
"Everyone. See that number over there? That's how many days till we announce Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition's official launch date," says the firm in the accompanying text.
"We'll post it here at PlayXBLA first, so check back early and often on Thursday! And by the way, the game's official name is Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition to distinguish it from the PC game."
The release date has always been a guarded secret, and this tease has frustrated some commenters who, perhaps fairly, just want to start playing Minecraft on their consoles.
The countdown page could turn out to be one final tease though, as it is possible that the release date could be tomorrow. That's just a rumour for now though. µ
