THREE GREEK TEENAGERS have been arrested and accused of hacking and defacing a government web site.
The attack happened at the start of February and the three are accused of defacing the Greek Ministry of Justice with a protest message, according to a report on Greek news web site In.gr.
"What is going on in your country is unacceptable. You were chosen by your people to act on behalf of them and express their wishes, but you have derogatorily failed," says the message that is still available on Youtube.
"You have killed the most sacred element your country had and that is democracy. Democracy was given birth in your country but you have now killed it."
The message says that a government dictatorship is favouring bankers and the EU and making its citizens pay for their mistakes. It adds that Greek support of ACTA, which is limited to the government, is also a driver behind the hack.
"[The people] demonstrate against you but you do not want their voices to be heard. You deprive them from their right of freedom of expression and of their right to live. Your arbitrary actions must be punished," it adds.
"By signing the ACTA bill you are going to deprive your people from further freedom and you are pushing them one step towards oppression. You ignored our warnings and now WE ARE IN CHARGE!"
The message is in English, but Greek text is also available. The In.gr report says that the three, aged 16, 17 and 18, belong to a hacking group called the Greek Hacking Scene (GHS) and have publicly stated their support for Anonymous.
This is not the only Anonymous attack on Greece, and on 13 February it carried out a number of other hacks in the country.
A statement from the Greek police says that the accused have "committed dozens of digital attacks". µ

Even if you're Greek you should be smart enough to not hack.
so if you throw molotov cocktails at those buildings (or the cops) it's OK but if you 'deface' the website it's an arrest?
That sure sounds greek to me..
The braindead young folks should just off themselves instead of being a waste of humanity and a burden to society.
One day these poor idiots are going to look back at their actions and wonder just what sort of teenage arrogance let them act and comment on issues they obviously have no understanding of.
If you want to play the game of stupid, there is a price as these yoof will find out.
<sarcasim
How dare these rightious motivated youth try and stand up to a corrupt and repressive government, that has destroyed their economy and enriched evil people in political power. They should suffer, punish them the same way as they have commited crimes, take the kids home page and put up a statment stating how they want the government to represent the people, that'll show them. But we all know the kids will do the time the government gangs should be doing, becouse that's how big bad guys roll.
If the subject is too complicated for you to understand, you should stay quiet instead of making a fool of yourself.
I'm sure the kids will enjoy the Iron Bar Hotel. Maybe you could stop by and visit them?
Im assuming your stating the Greek govt made two wrongs?? naaah, the Greek govt is all wrong and good riddance too. Any creature apposed to them must be on the right. :P
That's the BIG PICTURE and why these hackers will be punished.
Whether these kids did it or not, the message about how Greece was fleeced by its own banking system and how the government didnt do anything about it still rings true.
See? I didnt let my bias blind me to the bigger picture and the bigger issue than a defaced website.
NOT winning. Jail should do them good.
