TAIWANESE HARDWARE VENDOR Acer has confirmed that its Iconia Tab range of tablets will get an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS).

The firm has issued a US press release saying that its Iconia Tab A200, A500 and A100 will all get ICS. We've spoken with Acer, which confirmed that all of the tablets will be upgradeable in the UK.

The A200 will get the update first, starting already in the US, with the A500 and A100 lagging slightly behind in April. Acer hasn't confirmed specific dates for the UK.

Paul Tayar, director of product marketing at Acer said, "The many enhancements in Android 4.0 OS complement the sleek, powerful and well-designed Acer Iconia Tab tablets to give customers an all-around first-rate experience,"

"Customers will experience greater entertainment and productivity with the new capabilities and features on their tablets."

Acer said that the update will bring users unique features like its "highly-customisable" Acer Ring along with a better weather widget and access to favourite apps when the device is locked.

Other additions will include improved performance, navigation, graphical effects, faster browsing and better management. The camera app will also be enhanced with better zoom and the ability to take still images while recording a video. Captured images and videos will be stored on Google+. µ

Acer 4.0update

Mid April has come and gone and no update for iconia 100a. I really dislike when these companies do not tell the truth about updating their devices. No update.
