CHINESE PHONE VENDOR Huawei has let slip that it will be announcing a quad-core Ascend D1 Q smartphone at Mobile World Congress (MWC).
The firm will show off the Nvidia Tegra 3 powered handset later this month at MWC in Barcelona. The news has been leaked on the Yu Chengdong profile page on the Chinese web site Weibo, which is similar to Facebook.
Translated, a post by Sina microblogging on his web page said, "The microblogging Huawei Senior Vice President @ Yu Chengdong recently revealed that a higher specification of the flagship phone will be launched in the # MWC2012 #. Yu Chengdong, and did not disclose the specific configuration of this phone, just to describe it with the world's most powerful smart phone, the aircraft will also be part of the Ascend series (Huawei high-end smart vest in the series), named of Ascend D1, Q should be used quad-core processors."
This was in reply to a previous post that mentioned the quad-core Tegra 3 chip, which says it's from a Huawei phone. There's also a mention of an unnamed tablet, which could be the successor to the firm's Mediapad.
It said, "MWC Mobile World Congress Huawei will release the phone and Pad must be more cattle than the processor! / / @ Knock x large onion: really quite looking forward to the Tegra 3 Huawei phones, also did not see ah ~ ~ ~ to force Come on!"
If this does turn out to be the case then the Ascend D1 Q will be the follow-up to the Ascend P1 S that we saw at the Consumer Electronics Show last month. The D stands for diamond and the Q for quad-core.
This report certainly ties in with the fact that Nvidia said Tegra 3 quad-core devices will be appearing at MWC. µ
