Chinese authorities are seizing Ipads

Name dispute leads to shelf clearing

CHINESE AUTHORITIES are storming Apple stores and seizing Ipads due to an ongoing trademark dispute.

The Associated Press reports that China's law enforcement authorities are targeting stores in the northern city of Shijiazhuang, southwest of Beijing, because of the trademark dispute between Apple and Shenzhen Proview Technology, a Chinese firm that claims to own the Ipad name.

The AP said that Shenzhen Proview Technology is looking to extend the tablet clampdown into as many as 20 other cities.

Shenzhen Proview Technology claims to have owned the Ipad name since as early as 2000, but that did not stop Apple from trying claim the name last year.

A Chinese court rejected Apple's claim to the name in December last year, meaning that it could no longer use the Ipad name in the country. Now Chinese authorities acting on behalf of Shenzhen Proview Technology have started seizing tablets bearing the name.

"All the Apple iPads in the big shopping malls and supermarkets have been taken off shelves in Xinhua district," said an official known only as Wang, who represents the economic investigation unit for the city's Xinhua district.

Apple gets a big bite!

"Those jobs aren't coming back"
--- Steve Jobs

Finally, Apple will have to realize how much it screwed itself by taking manufacturing out of the USA. Now the tech giant can't even sell the iPad in China. This victory for the Chinese marks the end of Apple's explosive growth in China. Chinese will not give up so easily, the iPad is just the first volley in a series of protectionist moves to derail Apple's plans to sell in China. BRAVO teach the greedy Apple people a lesson China!
