SELLER OF SHINY TOYS Apple has pulled its Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 delta update after its legendary quality control procedures failed to discover that it causes applications to crash.
Last week Apple released a large security update for its two most recent operating systems, but it seems both have pretty big bugs forcing Apple to withdraw the updates. First up was Apple's delta update for Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 which had to be pulled after users complained of applications crashing, with Apple now recommending that users download a 1.3GB file instead, avoiding the Mac OS X Software Update facility.
Apple also pulled Mac OS X Snow Leopard's large security update after it was reported that the update broke Rosetta, the PowerPC compatibility layer in Mac OS X that allows applications compiled for PowerPC Macs to run on Intel Macs. Since the first release of the security update has been pulled, Apple has released a second version which reportedly fixes the problems with Rosetta.
Although Apple has updated one update and pointed users to download a full 1.3GB in order to mitigate the effects of its shoddy quality control in the other, this dual cock-up is embarrassing for a firm that prides itself on making things work seamlessly. Then again, going by the firm's financials it is obvious that the firm's IOS devices are what really bring home the bacon, so it is not beyond the realms of possibility Apple has moved a few Mac OS X quality control people to manning the walled gardens of IOS. µ

When os x leopard first came out. Iphoto as well as many other apps would crash daily. This is with no other software other than what came with the machine. I became so unhappy with it I sold it. Many venders put out hardware before it's ready, Apple is no differant except than it runs it own appss and still has problems. Would I buy another overpriced Apple product. NO
Some eager journalist needs to do some serious investigative journalism into pervasive commenters that post Apple-disparaging remarks. Are these random commenters who just happen to have had a bad experience with Apple, or is this an organized effort to shape public opinion? We have already seen how the Chinese labor issue took on epic proportions, and yet the true story still remains untold. There could be something behind these efforts that would expose an organized anti-Apple marketing charade.
Pro Photog here, with serious issues with both my desktop and laptop computers - significant issues with performance on both machines and randomly dropped USB drives affect my business daily! The local store replaced my MacBook Pro under warranty and it's worse than before. Lion is crap for professional users of Adobe products and multiple eternal USB drives. Frankly, I'm glad they got this bad press, because their BEST computers are DESTROYING MY BUSINESS. Facts don't lie. For more information, PLEASE CONTACT STEVE ArtPhotoTech@gmail.com
iPad1 users have been complaining about frequent crashes of Safari since the update to iOS 5 (google 'safari ios crash')... so I disagree all efforts are going into iOS. Maybe only to 'new' devices and not the old ones...
Seller of shiny toys?
enough said. You guys back nothing up.
Apple's quality control is actually even better when you take into account the many millions more customers they serve. Their company is nothing less than amazing with unheard of execution and all you pathetic haters can do is try to find things to slam them with. Keep digging.
Not that lAwrence lAtif often gets things wrong(!), but the 1.3Gb update is available via Software Update and has been since the original was pulled.
Fact checking, he's heard of it!
As I long term Mac user and lover, I must say that Apple's "it just works"motto has slipped badly in the last few years. It pains me to see the Mac neglected while all kinds of 'great"advances are made in Apple's toy line of IOS products.
Apple seems to no longer care about mac users having taken a "take it or leave it" attitude on a number of occasions, notably matte screens, Blue ray of Dvd players and the imitation IOS
called Lion.
So sad to seethe Mac degraded
Just to heap on Apple, new research says that IOS apps crash 3 times as much as Android apps...those QA guys aren't doing a great job...

This is funny that how cheap should someone be to write these kind of words about a company in order to make money. I feel sad for you. Poor you.
Lawrence, what have you done?!
A long line of weeping fruity fan boys will join hands now in not-so-silent wailing.
You have brought this on yourself.
