Asus shoots down retailer’s claims of faulty Transformer Prime tablets

Exclusive Says Clove had only one unit anyway
Mon Feb 06 2012, 16:57

TAIWANESE GADGET MAKER Asus has hit back at claims by retailer Clove that its Transformer Prime hybrid tablet has hardware problems.

Last week, Clove said it had taken the Asus Transformer Prime hybrid tablet off sale after discovering problems with its stock.

However, Asus told The INQUIRER today that Clove had received only one unit of the Transformer Prime through its distribution, and that the retailer's claims of "thorough testing" are false.

Clove said last week that it had been able to obtain stock "sooner than expected", and that it had been given "a reasonable stock allocation".

But Asus said, "This allocation has not been delivered to Clove in case there is any confusion over 'allocation'."

Clove had said, "We did some random testing on the stock."

However Asus challenged Clove's claim, saying, "To-date, Clove has received one unit of Transformer Prime from distribution."

Suspicion surrounds Clove's claims, and The INQUIRER's readers were also dubious. One reader said, "I own a Prime and love it. The WiFi works fine. I suspect the real issue is Clove can not fill their orders."

Asus has denied that that there are hardware problems with its Transformer Prime hybrid tablet. It has admitted the metallic casing might affect the GPS signal, so it removed the GPS from the specifications sheet. It said that the Transformer Prime had no problems with its WiFi, but unhappy customers can still get a full refund.

Asus said, "We are not aware of any quality issues with the Transformer Prime. We have conducted extensive testing on the Transformer Prime in laboratory conditions and the device is performing as expected in all areas and to all of our required parameters."

"Asus prides itself on the rigorous testing of all products to ensure the highest quality possible. We refute any and all claims from third parties regarding the quality of our products."

We asked Clove to respond to Asus' claims, but the retailer declined to comment further. µ

Asus are not dodgy

I've have a TF101 and now I have a TF201 and can compare the two side by side. There is no problem with WiFi but GPS is poor other than directly outside. The Prime is faster and smoother and ICS has many good features. Most if not all the issues on XDA are with US Primes and they have just had an update to bring them up to the same or slightly higher version numbers of the UK spec Primes. I've had nothing but excellent experience of Asus and had absolutely no problems with my Prime so I rather believe Asus rather than Clove (from whom I have also had excellent service)

Clove - pants around ankles

Clove! Thorough testing! One unit! I think they have been caught with their pants well and truly around their ankles. Not a pretty sight!

I am loving working and playing with my Prime, and if I look around on XDA, other forums and twitter there are a lots of other people who are feeling the same.

lol

Clove obviously caught out, funny that they never reveled the results of their so called 'thorough testing'. Absolute BS on their part. I'll be avoiding them in future.

BS

I call BS on anything that Asus has said about the Prime. If I would've known back on Nov 22 2011 [and only received it last week] what issues they were having with this POS, I would've waited until the competition came out with something better than this hunk of junk!!

No problems with mine

My Prime works great! I use it with my home wireless as well as my work wireless. Also, my GPSr works fine as well. I keep seeing news about problems with this tablet but I wouldn't give mine up.

Asus get your head out of the sand!

It really beggars belief that Asus keep on and on saying apart from GPS there are no issues with the Prime.

If you want real honest opinions look no further than xda-devs Transformer Prime General Section ~ http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1412
Here you will find the forum is absolutely plagued with many and I do mean many unhappy users who have all manner of issues with the Asus Prime.
It matters zero that Asus repeatedly say there is nothing wrong.
If you check the first three topics in the link they are from a Key Manager of Asus accepting there is an issue and they are 'looking into it'.
Other topics cover screen bleeds which are backed up with owners posting photos.
Then there's poor Wifi with oodles of tests and attempts to improve but all in vain.
Keyboards not working, system random reboots, bluetooth interfering with Wifi, we've even got a photo of a grain of rice stuck under the screen. The list goes on and on...

So, if Clove say they have thoroughly tested I would rather believe them than Asus.

acks up my prior comments/thoughts.

Much as expected.

Those 'dodgy guys to me' are often the first to sell stuff re-launch.

They set the prices high obviously gambling on getting supplies delivered!
Would you supply someone who suffers premature ejaculation?
