Marriott hacker does not get a job
A JOB HUNTER that took an unorthodox route to seeking employment has taken the fast lane to prison.
Hungarian Attila Nemeth, 26, failed on his first attempt to get a job interview for a role in Marriott's IT department, so he followed up on that with a second approach that included files taken from the firm.
The US Department of Justice reported that Nemeth has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison now that law enforcement has finished interviewing him for an entirely different purpose. After his release Nemeth will serve three years of supervision. He pleaded guilty to the charges in November of last year.
Nemeth's attempt to get a job saw him emailing personnel at the firm and advising them that he had been accessing Marriott's computers for months. He said that he had taken proprietary information and would release it if he was not given a job at the company.
This was ignored so he sent a follow-up message with eight documents attached. Seven of those were confirmed as Marriott information. After this Marriott gave a Secret Service man an identity at the company and let him deal with the matter.
Nemeth, who presumably thought that this was a good way to get a job in technology, called and emailed the Secret Service agent to pursue a job interview.
Having some confidence in his new contact, Nemeth sent him a copy of his passport for identification, details of how he carried out the hack, and the location of the plundered documents. µ

That's all well and good, but if you want your complex networks to be the best protected, I'm thinking it's a good idea to hire hackers who can break your defenses and have the motivation and passion to do so, to work for you tbh and that's why it happens, no morals involved it makes good sense.
Probably most of the secure stuff you use these days in some way involved hackers making it so secure, either working for them or exposing blatant holes to the companies that others might have done worse with, you have a lot to thank them for you just don't know it, like your mother growing up
Rewarding criminals with a job is absolutely stupid. After they do prison time... then they can complete an employment application.
