Kim Dotcom is denied bail

FILESHARING GIANT Kim Dotcom has been denied bail in New Zealand because he has been deemed a flight risk.

Mr Dotcom is at the centre of the Megaupload storm that sees him facing a number of charges including racketeering, and extradition to the US.

A court in Auckland, New Zealand refused Mr Dotcom's appeal for bail because he might abscond, according to Reuters. Now he must sit and wait for an extradition hearing, and not play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

The court heard that Dotcom has a lot of money and three passports in different names, which could have helped it come to the conclusion that he might take flight.

"The judge correctly concluded that the risk of flight cannot be mitigated by the imposition of conditions, including electronic monitoring," said New Zealand prosecutor Anne Toohey. µ
