SMILEY FACED FIRM LG has announced that its Smart TV users will get access to movie rental service Lovefilm.
The deal means yet another supported device for the film rental service owned by Amazon. The downloadable app will allow users to stream content including films and TV shows straight to the TV over the internet.
Stacey Seltzer, head of LG Smart TV said, "We are very excited to add Amazon's Lovefilm to the already extensive range of content on LG's Smart TV platform. Working with Amazon's Lovefilm is further proof of LG's commitment to providing customers with the best possible service."
LG's TVs will join a raft of devices that support Lovefilm including Samsung and Sony TVs along with tablets and games consoles. The application will let users manage rentals, rate films, read reviews and search content.
Something unique to LG's Smart TVs is the Magic Motion Remote, which uses gestures. It will also get voice recognition functionality.
Lovefilm's Instant service starts at £4.99 per month for unlimited streaming. LG said its Smart TVs already have more than 250 applications available to download.
Simon Calver, CEO of Lovefilm said, "With this latest platform launch we are strengthening our penetration into the living rooms of UK consumers, bringing instant entertainment to more homes than ever before."
