UK ONLINE RETAILER Clove has put Motorola's recently announced Defy Mini and Motoluxe smartphones up for pre-order.

There is no specific date yet but the firm expects the handsets to tip up at the end of February or in early March. Motorola announced the pair just before this year's consumer electronics show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Motorola Motoluxe

The latest incarnation of the Motorola Defy is the pint sized Defy Mini that Clove has priced at £174. The larger and higher end Motorola Motoluxe has a price tag of £258. If you want something a little out of the ordinary then you can get the JCB version of the Motorola Defy+ that we reviewed last month for £238.

Motorola said the Defy Mini and Motoluxe have been designed to "break boundaries, but won't break the bank".

Both smartphones will run of versions of Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. The Defy Mini offers a 3.2in screen, an 600MHz processor, a 3MP camera and durability to scratches, dust and water.

The Motoluxe has a more impressive specification sheet consisting of an 800MHz processor, a 4in touchscreen, an 8MP camera and a lanyard notification light. These budget Android smartphones would make a good buy for users looking to get their first smartphone.

Clove has also announced that the Motorola's flagship handset, the Razr, is now available to pre-order in white. It will set you back £430 and will tip up mid to late February. The firm is also throwing in Motorokr EQ3 speakers worth £20 for nothing. µ
