Eggs are hurled at Iphone 4S launch in China
CHINESE PUNTERS desperate to get their hands on an Apple Iphone 4S went a bit crazy yesterday and started hurling eggs at an Apple store.
The Iphone 4S launched yesterday in China, but when the flagship store in Beijing announced that it was halting sales, whispers of dissatisfaction spread and someone started handing out eggs.
According to a report at Reuters, as soon as word spread that handsets were unavailable people began getting agitated, and as well as throwing around perfectly good eggs engaged in shoving matches with the police.
Although Apple said that people could buy an Iphone 4S online, this must have been small consolation to those who actually queued up to buy one. After all, they could have been at home eating eggs.
"We're suffering from cold and hunger," shouted one man with a loose grip on perspective. "They said they're not going to sell to us. Why? Why?"
Apple released a statement in which it said that all its stores' allocations had been sold out. It added that it had decided not to open the Beijing store because of the large crowd. µ

EXCUSE ME BUT I THINK I HAVENT BEEN PAYING ATTENTION, DOES THIS MEAN THERE IS IPHONE 1, IPHONE 2, IPHONE 3, AND NOW IPHONE 4? I KNOW THERES BEEN VARIOUS ITERATIONS OF THE IPOD AND THE IPAD BUT I DIDNT REALIZE HOW MANY IPHONES THERE ARE.
ALSO, IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IPHONE 4 AND IPHONE 4S (OR IS THAT S FOR PLURAL).

You do realise china and north korea are two completely different countries? I'm feeling replacement embarrassment for your comment.
And I'm not even talking about suggesting this day and age that current 'democracy' is better than chinese socialism, I mean you must be living in cave that's airtight and EM shielded, and right you are since it's the only attempt you can do to be slightly safe from the imperial US forces and their BS.
Sure it is just Apple fans... keep telling yourself that. It isn't like rabid Wal-Mart shoppers haven't trampled a man to death or that there weren't multiple stories of people pepper spraying each other or shooting each other over the holidays for "deals" at stores.
Twisted consumerism and the associated mindset is the problem.
"We're suffering from cold and hunger", sure, but we're spending money on cell phones. And not just any cell phones, we want the most expensive ones possible. Yes, we are hungry, but we throw the eggs at the store instead of eating them.
It's just amazing, how the Apple religion destroys brain cells.
On the other hand, I am pleased to hear that such things are possible in communist China. Who knows, some day we might even see them fighting for better things, like democracy.
