CHIPMAKER Intel is gearing up to push into the smartphone market by promoting Android devices that run Intel Atom Medfield chips. The chipmaker has created an x86 chipped reference design to give smartphone makers an idea of what the final design could look like.

Key specifications include an 1.6GHz Intel Atom Medfield single core processor, a 4.03in screen, an 8MP camera and support for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. There is no projected release date yet, but Intel will need to get its partners to move as quickly as possible if it wants to take on ARM. µ

The think the title says it all - it's a VIDEO DEMO, not a review.

What were you expecting ? A full blown technical review before Intel even shows the phone ?

So, what's the power consumption? The most important detail of all when comparing x86 to ARM.
Will it get 20 minutes uptime on a car battery, or will it actually be able to compete with ARM's inherent low power requirements? Which, by the way, it too still has poor uptimes on many phones.
