Lenovo announces its hybrid Ideatab S2 at CES

Wants more of the tablet market

CHINESE PC MAKER Lenovo has announced its hybrid Ideatab S2 at the consumer electronics show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Lenovo will launch the Ideatab S2 tablet / laptop, which will go up against the Asus Transformer Prime, globally in the second quarter. The hybrid design is remarkably similar to the Transformer Prime, and is a 10.1in tablet with a keyboard dock.

The 10in LED backlit LCD touchscreen will have high definition 1280x800 resolution and the tablet will be powered by a Qualcomm 8960 1.7GHz dual-core processor.

Lenovo said the device will be 8.3mm thick and weigh less than 600g. It will come with front and rear cameras rated at 5MP for the latter, WiFi and 3G connectivity with call support, a microHDMI port and up to 64GB of solid state disk (SSD) data storage.

The keyboard dock will add a touchpad as well as a keyboard, two USB ports, a multi-card reader and a battery, creating a netbook style device. Lenovo touts a whopping docked battery life of 20 hours or nine hours for the tablet on its own. µ
